“I Am Rosie the Riveter” will be presented by Lynn Rymarz at The Summit of Uptown, 10 N. Summit (at Touhy) in Park Ridge, on Friday, Nov. 9, at 1:30 p.m.  Join the author and storyteller as she shares the story of Geraldine Hoff Doyle, who inspired the iconic poster of Rosie the Riveter, “We Can Do It!” Guests are invited to the free event.  Light refreshments will be served.

Hear how this glamour girl went to work in a factory at the age of 17 to support the war effort during World War II. Learn about some of the other real life “Rosies” who stepped out of their traditional roles to go to work during this historical era. Woven throughout the presentation will be the parallel story of the life and times of Millie Werber, a Jewish teenage girl from the ghetto in Poland. The story of her work in a factory to support the Nazi war effort as told in her memoir “Two Rings: The Story of Love and War” will be highlighted.
