Park Ridge Police Blotter: Homeowner Tricked, Burglarized
The following information was provided by the Park Ridge Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.
A man rang the doorbell of a home in the 400 block of Michael John Drive at 3:10 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 13. The man said he wanted to show the homeowners something in their yard related to roof work they had done. The man let himself into the home and asked the homeowners to lead him to the yard, and when they did the man started speaking another language on a cell phone.
The homeowners asked the man for a business card and the man said he had to go get one. The man left and never came back. When the homeowners entered their home they found money and jewelry were missing. The man was described as being in his 40s, five foot three inches tall, stocky, wearing a cap, sunglasses and a blue checkered shirt.

Money, cameras and camera accessories were taken from a home in the 300 block of S. Lincoln Avenue. Someone forced open a door sometime between Oct. 14 at 4:45 p.m. and 12:05 a.m. Oct. 15.

Someone took a bicycle from an unlocked garage in the 1200 block of S. Prospect Avenue sometime between 3 p.m. and 4:50 p.m. Oct. 17.
A 2010 Hyundai had a handicapped placard taken from it sometime between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on Oct. 11. The incident happened in the 1500 block of N. Northwest Highway.

Two men attempted to pry open an overhead garage door in the 1600 block of W. Cedar St. The men then pried open a driver's side rear window of a Chevy 2500 parked in the driveway. The men removed multiple power tools and fled in a older model silver Toyota. One suspect is described as being a male black in his 20s wearing black pants, a blue jacket and a blue cap. The other person is described as a male black, in his 20s wearing blue plants, a blue jacket with Lange logo on the back, and a blue cap.

Someone removed rings from a patient at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, 1775 Dempster St. The incident happened between Sept. 22 and Sept. 23.

An unlocked Polmar GT men's mountain bicycle was taken from a yard in the 2100 block of W. Oakton Street. The incident happened Oct. 15 between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Someone took an secured Kink bicycle from an alley in the first block of S. Fairview Avenue on Oct. 17 between 5:20 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.
A 2002 Acura TL was stolen from an alley behind a home in the 400 block of S. Fairview Avenue. The incident happened between Oct. 15 and Oct. 16.
Child Talked to by Man in Car
A juvenile was cutting lawn in his front yard when a man between 65 and 70 years old with white hair pulled up in a 4-door black Mercedes. The man attempted to talk to the juvenile. An unknown second vehicle drove by and someone yelled "get out of here," at which the older man drove away.
