McDonald's is still considering it, according to a story in Bloomberg Businessweek. Park Ridge McDonald's location:  In an interview with CNBC, McDonald's President and CEO Don Thompson said the restaurant has heard the cries from fans to serve breakfast 24 hours a day and in fact offers "Breakfast After Midnight" at select locations—just none around here. Some critics felt that serving breakfast would "steal" business away from the lucrative lunch business. Now, the successful breakfast menu is working its way into an all-day status. Give the customer what they want and when they want it.   more ›

Is Jewel-Osco's Mandatory Cart-to-Car Service Too Much?

Whether you want them to or not, Jewel-Osco has implemented a new policy of following shoppers, and their carts, out to their vehicles. What do Patch readers think?

If you haven't shopped at your local Jewel-Osco grocery store in a while, be prepared for a new customer service initiative that you may, or may not, appreciate. It's called the "cart-to-car" service, according to couponsinthenews.com, and whether you want the help or not, your bagger is expected to follow you and your cart out to your vehicle. The service is mandatory, though Jewel-Osco denies it has anyting to do with keeping track of shopping carts, according to Coupons in the News. Andy said their decision to open Yourgurt was influenced by nostalgia for their grandfather’s yogurt and the increasing popularity of yogurt of all kinds during the last six years. When Andy, 34, a former café manager and barista, and George, 36, a former construction foreman, visited yogurt shops with their family, they had the idea to open a store themselves, Andy said. “We were just like, you know what, maybe we should try to do something like this,” Andy said. After …

Is Yourgurt a frozen yogurt shop? The word frozen was never mentioned in the description of the yogurt served there, but when I checked their supplier, Honey Hill Farms, they appear to be only a frozen yogurt supplier. I've never seen one yet, but what about a fresh (unfrozen) yogurt shop? Please, maybe just a little more specific on the reporting . . .   more ›
