Gerald Berkowitz, a broker with Century 21 Elm (847-652-8382), made a pledge to the Park Ridge Community Fund (PRCF) when he retired from School District 64 in 2012. He pledged to donate five percent (5%) of all his closed real estate commissions in 2012 to PRCF. He renewed this pledge in 2013, and again in 2014. Over the past two years, Mr. Berkowitz has donated almost $1,200 to the local multi-charity foundation.
A lifelong resident of Park Ridge, Berkowitz began working part time at Century 21 Elm more than a decade ago during his time with D64. Says Berkowitz, "As a Park Ridge resident who has had not one but two fulfilling jobs in this town – with D64 and for the past 10 years as a Realtor, I feel inspired to give back to this community that has given me so much. The Park Ridge Community Fund helps with so many needs that I felt it was the most efficient way to give back."
PRCF has been improving the quality of life in our community since 1958. The mission of the Park Ridge Community Fund is to assess the needs of the community, raise funds, and allocate those funds to charitable organizations and health causes, especially research, rehabilitation and education. Volunteers, people who live or work in Park Ridge, control all aspects of the Park Ridge Community Fund, including fundraising, the assessment and determination of community needs, the distribution of funds and the monitoring of their use.
