Students & Public Come out for Northwestern College’s 2014 Career Fair in Chicago’s Jefferson Park

[Rosemont, Chicago-Jefferson Park, IL]  On Thursday, May 15, Northwestern College’s Chicago Campus hosted its 2014 Career Fair for both its students and the community. While the majority of the nearly 130 attendees were Northwestern College students and alumni, approximately 20% were members of the public who took advantage of the opportunity to meet directly with employers locally, which is a 5% increase over last year’s public participation.  The event heralded twenty three (23) employers and recruiters interested in filling various positions.

Northwestern College opened its 2014 Career Fair to current students, alumni, and the general public, with all three categories participating.  Businesses that took part in the 2014 Career Fair included: State Farm Insurance; Aerotek; TCF Bank; Robert Half Legal; Addison Group; BMM (supply chain company); Bankers Life and Casualty; AirServ; US Army; Quality Placement Authority (QPA); Fitness Formula Clubs; College Nannies and Tutors; RCN Cable Chicago; MatchConverge; Computer Systems Institute; IL Department of Employment Security; Dunkin Donuts/Wingstop; U.S. Coast Guard RO Chicago; Northwestern College; Mary Kay; IL Army National Guard; Travelers Aid Chicago; and Radisson Blue Aqua Hotel Chicago.

A representative from Computer Systems Institute was also available to provide information for students interested in continuing their education (Northwestern College is a 2 year degree institution).

According to feedback obtained from the employers and recruiters in attendance, they found the event to be well organized and an event they enjoyed participating in and would participate in again in the future.

The success of the Career Fair would not have been possible without the efforts of Northwestern College’s Career Development & Alumni Relations Coordinator Greg Norton, the Office of Career Development & Alumni Relations, and the many volunteers who assisted.
