Report: Rivers Casino Owner Fighting Cook County Gambling Tax

The owner of Des Plaines' Rivers Casino is suing to stop a Cook County tax of $1,000 per gambling device such as slot machines, ChicagoRealEstateDaily.com reported.

The measure also includes a tax of $200 for each video gambling terminal of games such as poker or black jack. The websitereported that the taxes were approved as part of the county's $3 billion budget for this year. The lawsuit alleges that the county measures violate the Illinois Constitution and state laws concerning gambling.
