David P. Mansell, 75

Information from Ryan-Parke Funeral Home.

David P. Mansell, 75 of Park Ridge.

Born in Nyack, New York June 1, 1938. David lived, laughed and loved for 75 incredible years. Life gave David many joys, but none more significant than the family and friends who remained beside him through the greatest trials and the highest tides.

As a devoted fisherman, life was David's voyage. In his captain's log, every vivid memory a verbal entry and every dream in his manifest was fulfilled many times over. With his loving wife, Mary, by his side for 51 wonderful years, four beautiful children and six loving grandchildren. Their story together is comprised of moments that few could even imagine. After 75 years at sea, Captain Dave faced a white squall in what would be his final struggle.

Knowing full well the severity of the cancer he was diagnosed with, David Pierson Mansell fought valiantly in a war that could not be won. His tenacious will to fight for life is a testament to the incredible man that he was. Just like a stone cast into placid water, ripples of his remembrance will live on through stories told and experiences shared.

Beloved husband of Mary nee Bowman. Loving father of Amy (Mike) Wissmueller, David (Valerie), Andrew (Mandy) and Megan (Jon) Schuster. Incedible grandfather of Ian, Abigail & Caitlin Schuster, Ashley, Emily & Drew Mansell. Dear brother of Douglas (Marge) Mansell. Memorial visitation Saturday, June 8, 11-2 p.m., at Ryan-Parke Funeral Home, 120 S. Northwest Hwy., Park Ridge. Memorial service 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Rainbow Hospice Ark or American Lung Assn. are appreciated.
