Park Ridge Police Blotter: Smart Car Tipped Over and More

Attempted Burglary

Someone attempted to break into a home in the 400 block of N. Rose Ave. May 19 between 1:30 a.m. and 2 a.m. by using a pry tool on a storm door. The lock and frame on the door was broken but entry was not gained.

Two pairs of sunglasses were taken from an unlocked 2010 Chevy Impala sometime between 5 p.m. May 20 and 9:30 a.m. May 21. The vehicle was parked in a lot in the 1000 block of West Higgins Road.

The dual faceplate, a radar detector and a wrench set were taken from an unlocked 2005 Kia Optima sometime between 7 p.m. May 23 and 11:45 a.m. May 24. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of a home in the 600 block of Sylviawood Avenue.

Money and identification was taken from an unlocked 2005 Volkswagen Jetta sometime between 9 p.m. May 23 and 8 a.m. May 24. The vehicle was parked in the driveway of a home in the 700 block of Austin Avenue. An unlocked 2009 Toyota Camry also was entered, but nothing was taken.

Sunglasses and an iPod were taken from an unlocked 2007 Chevy Suburban sometime between 8 p.m. May 23 and 8 a.m. May 24 in the 900 block of Garden Street.

Smart Car Flipped Over

A 2009 Smart car was tipped over onto its side in the 1900 block of Garden Street sometime between 10 p.m. May 21 and 7:30 a.m. May 22.

Vehicle Damaged

The rear window of a 2007 Buick LaCrosse was damaged sometime between 10 p.m. May 19 and noon May 20 in the driveway of a home in the 400 block of Vine Street.

Theft

An iPod was taken after a locker was forced open at Maine East High School, 2601 W. Dempster St. sometime between 10:30 a.m. and 10:55 a.m. May 18.

A black iPhone with a red case was taken after a locker was forced open at Maine East High School, 2601 W. Dempster St. sometime between 10:20 a.m. and 11:05 a.m. May 18.

A Mongoose bicycle was taken from a yard in the 300 block of S. Prospect Avenue sometime between 8:15 p.m. and 8:45 p.m. May 19.

An unsecured Mongoose bicycle was taken from a restaurant bike rack in the 1000 block of N. Northwest Highway sometime between 9 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. Sunday, May 20.

A Tony Hawk bicycle was taken from a bike rack at Maine South High School, 1111 S. Dee Road sometime between 8:25 a.m. May 21 and 3:20 p.m. May 22.

A gas station employee was asked to open a pump at a gas station in the 100 block of Touhy Avenue. The individual pumped $61.50 worth of gas into a red SUV and left without paying.

A red Harley-Davidson motorcycle park near Vine Street and Higgins Road was taken sometime between 7:20 p.m. and 7:53 p.m. May 22.
