Park Ridge Police Blotter: Rash Of Rock Throwing

The following information was provided by the Park Ridge police department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Vandalism

Rocks were thrown from railroad tracks at vehicles located in the parking lot of a car dealership in the 800 block of W. Touhy Avenue. The incident happened between 6 p.m. July 27 and 8:30 a.m. July 28. Four vehicles were damaged.

Rocks were thrown from railroad tracks in the 300 block of W. Summit Street Aug. 2 at 9:20 p.m. damaging the passenger side door of a 1997 Chevy Blazer.

A rock was thrown through the passenger rear window of a vehicle in the 300 block of S. Washington Street on Aug. 2 at 9:20 p.m.

A large rock was thrown at two large windows of a business in the 700 block of N. Northwest Highway, causing damage  to two windwopanes on one window and the exterior pane on the other window. The incident happened sometime between 8 p.m. July 27 and 7 a.m. July 28.

A rock was thrown at a home in the 900 block of Harrison Street. The rock was thrown at the window above the door and broke the window. The suspects left on foot.

Attempted Commercial Burglary

Someone pried open a locked door and entered a business Aug. 1 in the first block of S. Fairview Ave. Nothing was taken.

Theft

Two iron planters were taken from the front porch of a home in the 1600 block of N. Parkside Drive on Aug. 8 sometime between 8:55 a.m. to 3:40 p.m.

Possession Of Stolen Property

Michael Maniacek, 21, of Des Plaines and James Young, 21, of Des Plaines, were charged with possession of cannabis and possession of stolen property July 30. The Park Ridge Herald-Advocate reported that the men were found in possession of an iPhone and a driver's license that had been taken from a store in Mount Prospect.

DUI

Illija Sikanic, 59, of Morton Grove, was charged Aug. 3 at 9:03 p.m. with leaving the scene of an accident, DUI and illegal transportation of alcohol.

Underage Drinking

Dennis Bereza, 18, of Park Ridge, was charged under zero tolerance in the 900 block of S. Home Avenue on Aug. 3 at 11:10 p.m.

Matthew Hafley, 20, of Park Ridge was charged under zero tolerance and with use of a premise for underage drinking in the 900 block of S. Home Avenue on Aug. 3 at 10:15 p.m.
