Park Ridge Police: Woman Stopped By Man Pretending to Be Cop

A 41-year-old woman was pulled over by a man she believed was a police officer.

Park Ridge police are seeking information about the incident which happened in the 1000 block of Parkwood on July 9 at 4 p.m.

Police said the woman was stopped by a man driving a white, older model vehicle. Witnesses said the man motioned the woman to the side of the road and then parked his vehicle behind hers.

The man approached the woman's driver's side door and asked if she was OK. He then asked for her driver's license and insurance card, police stated.

Witnesses said the man vehicle might have been equipped with flashing lights and that the man was wearing clothing similar to a police uniform. After talking to the woman, the man returned to his car and left.

The Park Ridge Police Department has no verification of any police activity in the area at the time the woman was stopped. Police are seeking information about this incident.

The man is described as older, heavy set, about 5'10 and 200 pounds, driving a white two door passenger car with extensive rust on the rear end.
