Park Ridge Sees Lowest Crime Rate in 5 Years

The overall crime rate decreased approximately 4 percent from 2011 to 2012, according to data presented to Park Ridge's committee of the whole on Monday.

Park Ridge appears to have been a slightly safer place to live in 2012 than it was in 2011. The overall crime rate was four percent lower in 2012 compared to 2011, according to annual data Police Chief Frank Kaminski presented to the committee of the whole at a meeting on Monday.

In an interview with Patch, Kaminski said he attributed the decline in crime to an increase in community involvement.

“We’ve been trying to move to more of a community policing philosophy,” Kaminski said.
