Regional Police Report: Reward Offered For Hair Salon Bandit, Cops Busted For Drug Dealing and More

Niles

Niles Crime Stoppers is offering up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest and filing of criminal charges against the suspect wanted for a in the past two to three weeks, according to a statement from Crime Stoppers.

Two robberies of hair salons in Niles occurred and are believed to have been committed by this suspect. The first occurred Dec. 28 at about 8:40 p.m. in a hair salon in a strip mall in the 5600 block of Touhy.

The second occurred Monday, Jan. 14 at about 11:40 a.m. in a hair salon in a strip mall in the 8300 block of Golf Road (in Four Flaggs Shopping Center).

The suspect is described as a white male, in his late 30’s to mid 40’s, between 5’4”-5’8” inches tall, weighing between 180-220 pounds, according to the organization. It also said he has been reported to be armed with a long-barrel handgun, possibly a revolver.

Schaumburg

Three Cops Busted By DEA For Selling Drugs

Three Schaumburg cops have been arrested for robbing drug dealers following an investigation that lead authorities to one of the officers' homes, which is in Algonquin, Wednesday night, according to media reports. 

U.S. Drug Enforcement agents arrested John Cichy, Matthew Hudak and Terrance O’Brien on Wednesday and the three Schaumburg police officers had a court appearance this morning in DuPage County, according to the Chicago Tribune.

WBBM Radio reported that bond was set at .

The officers are accused of selling marijuana and cocaine in DuPage County after they took the drugs from police seizures "and used a former informant to unload the product," according to the Daily Herald.

Lake Zurich

Man Charged with Predatory Sexual Assault

A former Lake Zurich man has been arrested for sexually assaulting a six-year-old child in 2004, according to McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren.

Louis P. Hoerauf, 34, of 23513 Field Rd. in Lake Zurich, was arrested and charged on Wednesday with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, a Class X Felony, Nygren stated in a press release.

The sheriff's office recently was notified that the victim, now 14 years old, came forward with information about Hoerauf. The victim claims to have been sexually assaulted by Hoerauf in Wonder Lake in 2004, Nygren stated in the release.

The assaults occurred when the victim was six or seven years old and Hoerauf was in his mid-twenties, the victim told sheriff's police.

Northbrook

Glencoe Man Gets 10 Years For Fraud

Kenneth Dachman, a Glencoe man who defrauded 51 investors out of more than $4 million over two years, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison, according to a U.S. justice department press release. 

The former Lake Forest resident funded his family's lavish lifestyle using investments for a now-defunct sleep disorder treatment center in Northbrook, the release said. 

Three of his investment victims told the judge at the sentencing hearing that Dachman’s scheme had seriously affected their lives and retirement security, according to the justice department.

“His business was not sleep apnea but putting money in his pocket,” U.S. District Judge James Zagel said in imposing the sentence, according to the release. 

Cary

Man Charged with Sexually Assualting Five Children

A Cary man has been arrested and accused of sexually assaulting five children, ages 4 to 14, according to the Cary Police Department.

Michael S. Reck, 38, 10 Wulff St., Cary, has been charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault (a Class X felony), seven counts criminal sexual assault (Class 1 felony), and two counts aggravated criminal sexual abuse (Class 2 felony), according to a Cary Police Department press release.

On Jan. 6, police were notified of alleged incidents between Reck and the five victims, and immediately began an investigation. Police established the victims are both males and females, and all are related to or acquaintances of Reck's.

Reck is accused of committing numerous sexual acts with the victims over a six month period at his Cary home on Wulff Street, according to police.
