Shell Station Robbed Twice in Two Weeks

Police are searching for a man who they say robbed a gas station in Des Plaines on Feb. 28. The same business was robbed on Feb. 14, which led to Maine South High School and a daycare center going on soft lockdown, according to police.

For the second time in two weeks, an unknown male subject robbed a gas station in Des Plaines, according to Des Plaines police.

A man entered the Shell gas station, 1605 S. River Road, and demanded the cashier give him money from the register on Thursday, Des Plaines police stated. The clerk gave the man some cash and he fled the scene on foot, police stated.

A weapon was implied, but not used in the robbery, according to the report.

Des Plaines police are investigating a similar incident at the Shell station that occurred on Feb. 14.

When the unknown male subject fled during the robbery on Feb. 14, he was reported to have entered Park Ridge, and Maine South High School and a daycare facility were placed on soft lockdown.

“These two incidents are currently ongoing investigations and no further information can be given at this time,” police stated.

Messages left at the Des Plaines Police Department were not immediately returned by publication time.
