Frimark Holds No Office On My Campaign

A Letter to the Editor from Larry Ryles, who is running for mayor of Park Ridge.

My opponent is waging a strong campaign against Howard Frimark.  He has made comparison after comparison of his record against Frimark’s.

However, there seem to be two large holes in this campaign strategy:

1) Hole number one, Howard Frimark is not running for mayor or any other office.

2) Hole number two, my opponent, Mayor Schmidt, was an alderman during Howard Frimark’s term as Mayor.

As an alderman, Schmidt helped set the budget, voted on the tax levies and voted to pass all annual budgets.

He also voted “yes” three times for the Uptown TIF District.

In addition, this past week my opponent has said publicly that the former Mayor, Howard Frimark, is:

  •  Managing my campaign
  • Serving as my chief advisor on how to run the city

And my opponent is also claiming that I was handpicked by Howard Frimark to run for mayor.

Nothing could be further from the truth!

When I decided to run for Mayor, in early 2012, Howard Frimark was nowhere in the picture.

Oh, and by the way, Howard Frimark holds no office on my campaign staff.  Instead, he serves alongside the more than 100 + supporters who are working hard to help get me elected on April 9, 2013.

As all career soldiers are, I am my own man and my only wish is to serve the people, as God would want me too.

Oh yes, I almost forgot, Mayor Schmidt is the reason I called Howard Frimark to help.  I mean, after all, when my opponent was asked by the press about why he voted yes for the TIF he stated, and I quote, "I was duped by Howard Frimark."

So, I figured Howard could lend some value to my campaign since he had already duped Schmidt once.

This week, I received the endorsements of Mayor Ron Wietecha and Mayor Mike MaRous to go along with Mayor Howard Frimark's endorsement.

So I suppose the next step in my opponent's campaign is to campaign against Mayor Wietecha and Mayor MaRous.

Try something unique Mr. Opponent.

Campaign on your record as a public servant, which includes your entire record as both an alderman and a mayor.

Candidate for Mayor of Park Ridge
