Park Ridge Alderman Tries to Lower Residents' Water Rates

Marc Mazzuca is proposing a lower rate that doesn't include costs for a new water meter reading system.

A Park Ridge alderman is trying to lower the water rate for residents, despite an initial vote for higher rates, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Alderman Marc Mazzuca will propose a rate 12 cents lower than the proposed $3.05 per 1,000 gallons on Monday when the final vote on water rates is expected. Mazzuca said the $3.05 rate isn’t justified because it includes costs for a planned automated water meter reading system, the newspaper reports.
