Park Ridge Council to Discuss Conceal Carry Law, Gun Control

The Park Ridge City Council will discuss the state's approval of conceal-carry legislation at its Monday, June 24 meeting.

The Illinois General Assembly passed the bill May 31 and Gov. Pat Quinn has 60 days to sign it. Once signed, municipalities only have 10 days to make any changes regarding the possession and use of firearms.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at City Hall, 505 Butler Place.

The bill would prevent municipalities from regulating handguns and concealed carry once signed into law by Quinn. It also will create the Concealed Carry Licensing Review Board which would handle concealed carry applications.

Municipalities still can regulate other guns, however, not covered by the conceal carry law.
