D64 Taps Skokie Educator As Its New Superintendent

Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 interviewed six candidates from a large pool of applicants and picked this Skokie assistant superintendent.

After reviewing many applications and bringing in six candidates for in-person interviews, the Park Ridge-Niles District 64 Board of Education has selected Dr. Laurie Heinz, an assistant superintendent for curriculum and instruction in Skokie School District 68, as its new superintendent.

Board members will meet this evening to develop a contract proposal for Dr. Heinz.

The D64 board spent several months on the process of identifying the right candidate, according to a statement. It engaged BWP & Associates search consultants, and developed a leadership profile with input from parents and community members.

The Board invited two finalists – Dr. Bob Machak and Dr. Laurie Heinz – to each visit District 64 for a full day of meetings (January 9 and 10) with all members of the community, including staff, administrators, parents and other community members, as well as an extended session with the Board.

The district then received word Dr. Machak had withdrawn from consideration.
