Graduation Day for Maine East Seniors

The Akoo Theatre in Rosemont helped families and friends celebrate the end of an era for the 2012 graduates of Maine East.

The day that many high school students either fear or anticipate finally arrived on June 4 for the senior students at Maine Township High School East.

Hundreds of friends and families gathered to see their graduating senior walk across the stage to pick up their very important diploma that holds the key to their future.

Raymond Niko Perez Roman, one of four Maine Scholars, compared the graduating class to Simba from the Disney movie "Lion King," in that they started high school like the baby lion, and had teachers and faculty help guide them along the journey to this day.
