Top Seniors Honored at Maine South, East and West High Schools

The highest-achieving seniors have been honored as Maine Township High School District 207 this week graduated its Class of 2013 at Maine East, Maine South and Maine West high schools.

District 207’s highest academic honor is the “Maine Scholar” designation, which recognizes those graduates who ranked in the top 1 percent of their classes.

This year’s Maine Scholars for Maine East High School are John Depa, Brandon Leung, Paul Oshana and Niraj Shah.

Maine South’s Maine Scholars are Caroline Borowski, Caitlin Dorff, Natalie Kirchoff, Madeleine McGrady, Emma Ropski, Caralin Schneider and Thomas Syptek.

Maine East’s Department Awards were earned by Joseph Turbak, Applied Technology; Jay Shah, Business Education; Margherita Giovenco, Family and Consumer Sciences; Iryna Talanchuk, Art; Nikko Magpayo, Music: John Depa, Speech Arts;

Michelle Gonzalez, English; Akouete Pierre Dekpoh, ESL; Barbara Skrzypek, Foreign Language; Naphat Lertratanakul, Math;  Bridget Murphy, Physical Education; and Jill Patel in both Science and Social Science.

Maine South’s Departmental Awards were earned by Daniela DeFrancesco for Applied Arts and Technology; Hannah Kabat, Art; Jason Postweiler, Business; Emma Ropski, English; Kelly Fleck, Family/Consumer Sciences; Giana Carli, Foreign Language; Ryan Walek, Math; Kathleen McCarrick, Music; Brendan Sweetman, Physical Education; Carri Stevens, Speech/Drama; Thomas Spytek, Science; and Paval Tamas, Social Science.

Maine West’s Departmental Awards were earned by Jessie Jacobe, Applied Technology; John DeVries, Business; Tara Woodford, Family Consumer Science; Mitchell Riportella, English; Allysa Hozian, Art; Benjamin Brissette, Music; Daniel O’Hara, Speech/Drama; Benjamin Brissette, Foreign Language; Eric Kim, Math; Matthew Beranek, Physical Education; Benjamin Brissette, Science; and Pariyamon Thaprawat, Social Science.
