Taste Of Park Ridge, Sidewalk Sales This Week

The city's annual sidewalk sale kicks off Wednesday, promising big end-of-season sales and giving resident big bargains. The Taste of Park Ridge starts a day later with four new vendors and stage act.

Park Ridge residents will find big summer blowout sales during the city's annual four-day sidewalk sale, while partaking in a new attraction and culinary delights at the Taste of Park Ridge.

The annual Park Ridge Sidewalk Sale kicks off Wednesday near downtown, said Sheila Duda whose store, TeaLula tea shop, 11. S. Fairview Ave., is participating.

Merchants are trying to sell end-of-season products that will be up to 70 percent off, said Duda, who is helping coordinate the sidewalk sale.

"This is a great time to get a bargain," Duda said. "We are moving out the old to bring in the new to make room on the shelf."

Tables with sale items to purchase will be placed outside for patrons to peruse. If patrons want to buy an item, they must bring it into the store to purchase, she said. Duda said she'll be selling teapots and a variety of teas at her sidewalk sale.

Asking me if I would like help with my groceries to my car, is okay, but making it mandatory thatRead More you follow me to my car, oh NO. Regardless of why Jewel is doing this, it is wrong. It is as if we are suspects or criminals. It is an invasion of my privacy. I don't need you following me to my car & knowing what I have in it or what kind of car I have. Did anyone stop to think this is going to add to the stress of grocery shopping. The lines are long enough & it takes forever to check out. Now take away the baggers & let them follow all the customers & what do you have - longer lines, irate customers, having to possibly hire more help which is going to drive the prices at Jewel higher. Someone has to pay for this "service". So I say if you don't think this should be, then bombard Jewel with letters or don't shop at Jewel. I think they may get the message then.
