Plans for Park Ridge 9/11 Memorial on Hold

Plans for the memorial have stalled indefinitely, the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate reports.

Plans to build a 9/11 memorial in Park Ridge have stalled, the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate reports.

The Park Ridge Fire Department received a steel beam from the World Trade Center back in 2011, and talks about building a memorial using the beam began. The Park Ridge Art Commission has been put in charge of choosing a design for the memorial, but the group has not met to discuss plans in seven months. Their original design was vetoed by the fire department due to high costs and disagreements in how the memorial would be laid out, according to the newspaper.
